Unit Purpose
The SHU unit is the first stage of the Prime G+ gasoline deep hydrodesulphurisation process. The overall aim of the Prime G+ process is to produce a low sulphur gasoline blending component from cat cracked gasoline with minimal octane loss.
The reactions in the SHU reactor (D-2) are:
• Selective hydrogenation of diolefins to avoid gum formation in SHDS reactors
• Conversation of light mercaptans and sulphides into heavier sulphur molecules while minimising olefin saturation.
The design treat gas ratio is 15 m3 of H2 per m3 of hydrocarbon feed, with a reactor inlet pressure of 23.5 barg, and temperatures of 160°C (start of run) to 200°C (end of run).

The unit is designed for a feed of light cat cracked spirit (LCCS), and up to 15% heavy cat cracked spirit (HCCS) with the following properties:
